I think Maester Aemon was Prince Aemon the Dragon Night. After Maester Aemon told Samwell about who he was & his life & that he loved a woman once that he could remember everything about her after all these years like she was standing in front of him & he also mentioned a baby. I think he fell in love & broke his vows early on & that love produced a child who I believe was Jaehaerys. I think something happened to Jaehaerys mother & Aemon asked his brother Aegon "egg" to raise him as his own & returned to the Citadel to fulfill his oath. Maester Aemon's real name was R. Aemon Targaryen. I think he's Raegar's great grandfather & I think Raegar named Jon after both his grandfather & great grandfather….Aemon Jaehaerys Targaryen. Just my opinion.
Let me just put the speculation to rest. My mother, Lyanna, named me after my dear uncle. What? You think she was just gonna settle for a typical Targaryen name? Ice and fire, not fire and fire. Watch the Tower of Joy scene again and you'll see see my mother whisper my name, Eddard. :oD
Personally, I always thought that Jon reminded me of AeGON. "Hidden in plain sight". But I'm probably wrong.

Fun fact: Kit Harington didn't know his real name was Christopher (Kit being a nickname, Ala Christopher "Kit" Marlowe) until he was 11. He found out when he had to fill out a form at school, and then didn't know how to spell it, lol.
