It has either glass or crystal eyes that's why it appears white on the ground with nothing to colour the eye and then goes dark when reflecting whatever is behind it. I watched the scene over and over on my tv last night and also older scenes too and it clearly has transparent/reflective eyes.

I think it's got a black eye that is reflecting the white snow. And that the "eye opening" is it just reflecting Jon's black glove or something. It's easier to tell when you watch it in slow motion as you can see the black "eye" part moving to the left of screen when Jon moves his glove to the left of screen.

How would that be water splashing at the camera or the sword? I mean look at the angle plus the camera has zoom so it can't be splash…
