As if one prize wasn’t enough, Killing Eve’s Jodie Comer has now been nominated for an MTV Movie and TV award.
Fresh from her win at the Bafta TV Awards 2019 on Sunday, Jodie is now up for another award – Best Villain – for her villainous role in spy drama, Killing Eve.
Jodie will have to fight against Josh Brolin, who plays Thanos in Endgame as well as The Handmaid Tale’s Commander Fred Waterford, played by Joseph Fiennes, Lupita Nyong’o, from horror film Us, and Penn Badgley, the actor behind Joe Goldberg in You.
HBO’s smash hit, Game of Thrones and Marvel’s blockbuster, Avengers: Endgame, have joined Killing Eve as nominees in the upcoming MTV Movie and TV Awards 2019, which will take place in California’s Barker Hangar, Santa Monica on 17 June.
The Liverpool-born actress has been nominated for her role as cut-throat Russian assassin, Villanelle just days after giving an emotional speech following the announcement of her Bafta win.
At last Sunday’s ceremony, Jodie said: ‘Sorry I’m the only one who’s turned on the waterworks.
‘Nana Frances sadly passed away on the first week of filming. She never got to see Villanelle, the life and soul of everything.’
She was joined in the Bafta winner’s club by fellow Killing Eve cast member, Fiona Shaw, who plays MI6 boss, Carolyn Martens.
Shaw took home the best supporting actress award, beating Keeley Hawes, Monica Dolan and Billie Piper.
Jodie’s co-star Sandra Oh, who plays MI5 officer Eve Polastri, missed out on the top prize at Sunday’s ceremony.
Game of Thrones, set to end on Sunday, and Avengers: Endgame, which has smashed box-office records since its April release, have each been nominated in four categories at the upcoming MTV awards.
RBG, the documentary focused on US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, is also up for four awards in June.
Game of Thrones has been tipped for best show while bad-ass Arya Stark, played by Maisie Williams, is up for best hero.
Arya’s battle against the White Walkers is in with a chance of winning best fight while Emilia Clarke, aka Daenerys Targaryen, is up for best performance.
The long-awaited Endgame, which broke box office records by taking £929m in worldwide ticket sales for its opening run, has been nominated for best movie and best fight.
Iron Man, played by Robert Downey Jr, is up for best hero at the MTV awards and Josh Brolin for best villain.
The Oscar-nominated RBG has been nominated in the best documentary category as well as awards in two new categories, the most meme-able moment and real-life hero.
Plus Justice Ginsburg, famous in America as a women’s rights advocate, will go down in history as the first public figure to be nominated for a best fight award.
The MTV Movie and TV Awards 2019 takes place on 17 June.
