Kit Harington has hinted that his final scene in Game of Thrones could simply be a close-up of his hand that will have him weeping – leaving us to wonder if his character dies or not?

‘My final scene will probably just be a close-up of my hand reaching out in front of a green screen… But out of shot I’ll be crying my eyes out,’ the Gunpowder actor told The Big Issue in an interview about the eight and final season of the fantasy show and BBC drama Gunpowder.

The 30-year-old spoke ahead of his trip to Ireland to film the final season of the global TV series behemoth, Game of Throne and of the final episode of Gunpowder airs on Saturday.

His comments will, of course, spark rumours that he is dying (again) at the end of the series: ‘I’m a survivor. And there are only a few of us left who have made it all the way through. It is emotional. This has been an incredible part of my life.’

‘As with so many things in my life it is thanks to Thrones,’ he said ‘This notoriety or profile I have at the moment is because of Thrones.’

‘I had always thought I wanted to write, and maybe in some ways I still do. But I began to realise what a producer does when I got into this industry – I had thought they just put up the money,’ he said. ‘But very often they spawn the idea, take it to the writer, and are involved with the whole creative process. That really struck a chord with me. I wanted to see if I could do it.’

He added: ‘It is more this industry I want to work in. If I can use me being in it as a way of getting something on TV, and it is good and does well, then maybe I can produce the next thing and not be in it. I would love to direct as well.’

Commenting on the Harvey Weinstein scandal he said: ‘You ask anyone in this industry before the Harvey Weinstein thing came out whether they knew about it, and they’d have said yes. I knew about it. It is that widespread. I’m sure he is not the last person we will hear about.’

‘It is an incredibly brave thing for these women to speak out,’ he said of the 50 plus women who have come forward with Weinstein allegations.

He added: ‘It took a piece of journalism which takes two years of putting together, and promises of anonymity and all sorts for it to come out like it has. Hopefully, it will change things.’

Kit’s interview with the publication has us wondering if he makes it to the end of Game of Thrones alive but judging from his reaction after reading the script we have little confidence?.

Speaking to The One Show on October 20 the actor said that he was mega emotional about filming for season eight. Kit, who plays the character also dubbed King of the North, said that the cast of the fantasy hit show read through the script last week in Belfast.

Referencing the fan favourite quote ‘You know nothing Jon Snow’ he joked: ‘We had the read through last week in fact, so I know everything now.’

‘But I cried at the end,’ he admitted to the studio audience. He quickly added that it wasn’t for anything in particular but that the tears were for sentimental reasons. ‘You have to remember that eight years of it no one really cares about it more than us,’ he said thoughtfully.

The actor who plays Jon Snow on the HBO show reflects on having been given the opportunity to produce his own series for the BBC.

The Big Issue with the exclusive interview with Kit Harington is available to buy from Monday October 29 from Big Issue vendors.
