Game of Thrones actor Kit Harington has confessed that he cried his little eyes out after reading the script for the final season of the show.
Speaking to The One Show on Friday evening the actor said that he was mega emotional about filming for season eight.
Kit, who plays Jon Snow, King of the North, said that the cast of the fantasy hit show read through the script last week in Belfast.
Referencing the fan favourite quote ‘You know nothing Jon Snow’ he joked: ‘We had the read through last week in fact, so I know everything now.’
‘But I cried at the end,’ he admitted to the studio audience.
He quickly added that it wasn’t for anything in particular but that the tears were for sentimental reasons.
‘You have to remember that eight years of it no one really cares about it more than us,’ he said thoughtfully.
He added: ‘I get a bit weepy thinking about it. It’s going to be a strange year saying goodbye to everyone and having last scenes with this person and that person.’
Yeah, Kit we are crying with you!
The thought of the end of Game of Thrones is bringing tears to many eyes.
However Kit has also previously admitted that he is grateful that the HBO show is coming to an end after eight seasons.
The actor – whose new series Gunpowder begins on BBC One on Saturday night – said that leaving the show will be ‘liberating’ as he’s currently unable to work on other projects because of filming commitments.
‘It will be liberating, just the thought of having a whole year free – you shoot for six months, but half of the projects you might want to do will have started shooting before that six months is over,’ Harington told Digital Spy.
‘There’s a lot of things you can’t do. I’m looking forward to finishing, and eight years is the right amount of time. I wouldn’t want it to go on any longer than it has. I have other ideas I’d like to look at producing.’
Kit recently got engaged to his former co-star Rose Leslie and he really might want to think about being more careful with his choice of words.
The Game Of Thrones actor made all our nerd dreams come true when he announced his engagement to Leslie, who played Jon Snow’s lover Ygritte on the HBO blockbuster.
After confirming their engagement via an announcement in The Times – how posh – Kit has discussed their impending nuptials for the first time while on The Jonathan Ross Show.
But the way the 30-year-old described his romantic proposal made it sounds a bit filthier than it actually was.
In their recent chat, Kit explained: ‘We did a little announcement in The Times…
‘I did have some plans to do it, I was going to string up some lights in some trees and do all the romantic stuff but we were in the country and we were under this beautiful night sky and had a log fire burning and red wine and I blew my load early.’
Um, excuse us?
Kit corrected himself, telling Jonathan: ‘Sorry, that’s a really bad expression.
‘I was meant to do it the day after with the lights. What I meant to say was, I popped my question a bit early. Not blew my load.’
Thank goodness for that.
Considering Kit and Rose met on the Game Of Thrones set, it makes sense that all of the cast and crew be at their wedding – but that means a bit of a scheduling ‘mare for producers, who are preparing to film the final series of the fantasy epic.
Kit told Jonathan: ‘I rang [the producer] up and I said, “I’m getting married and it’s your fault actually”… I think for the final season he is so stressed that he’s reached that peaceful level.’
The One Show airs weekdays on BBC One at 7 PM
