Game of Thrones has had a lot of characters and about almost as many deaths, but there’s one that ripped all of our hearts out, and that’s of the beloved oaf, Hodor. While we still want Kristian Nairn to come back as Wight Hodor in Season 8. While that might not be possible, in a recent interview, Kristian Nairn revealed that he believed that Hodor was actually the third Clegane brother. Read on!
Kristian Nairn recently had a sit-down with SFX Magazine. We all know the Clegane brothers, Sandor also known as the Hound, played by Rory McCann and Gregor also known as the Mountain, played by Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, are two of the larger guys in the show, and apparently Hodor sharing this with them made Kristian speculate that he could be the third of the pack:
“A theory I had, being a big guy, maybe he was another one of the Clegane brothers, and something happened to him as a child, like it did with the Hound, having his face burnt, which made him the way he is.”
Well, that one we didn’t think of! However, now that we think about it, it’s a pretty nice one, as far as “going that extra mile to connect the dots” fan theories go. We can see why Kristian resorted to this, too. He had just the one dialogue, and no backstory to his character, at all, which tuened out to be one of the biggest secrets the show has had kept.
Apparently, he even tried to find out! Nairn revealed that he tried to bribe the Creator himself, the author of A Song of Ice and Fire, George R.R. Martin. Speaking of his failed attempts, Nairn said:
“I bought him whiskies, vodkas, everything. Never worked. He has a good poker face.”
Well, we still wouldn’t close the door on that theory. After all, we just have the one season left. What do you guys think about this one? Talk to us in the comments, down below!
