The music from Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings is iconic – and now fans will have the chance to hear it live with an orchestra.
The immersive concert, “A Celebration of the Music from Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, and The Hobbit”, will take place at The Usher Hall in Edinburgh next summer, on 11 June 2020.
The Seven Kingdoms and Middle-Earth are set to collide as a huge live orchestra plays scores from Game of Thrones, The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, celebrating some of fan’s most memorable moments.
Composer Ramin Djawadi began creating the music for HBO’s Game of Thrones in 2011, with most of the eerie scores penned for a small string ensemble.
Following the epic success of the next six seasons, Djawadi was able to create even more emphatic pieces for large orchestras, reports Birmingham Live.
While Game of Thrones may have come to an end in May, the on-screen adaption of George R.R Martin’s fantasy novels brought in record numbers of viewers all across the world.
Meanwhile, the critically-acclaimed Lord of the Rings trilogy, directed by Peter Jackson, are among the highest grossing film series of all time and have won a combined 17 out of the 30 Academy Awards they were nominated for.
The success of the The Lord of the Rings soundtrack composed by Howard Shore led him to also score Peter Jackson’s follow-up prequels to Lord of the Rings; The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, The Desolation of Smaug, and The Battle of the Five Armies.
Tickets will go on sale on Friday (15 November).
