First project about lost wax metal casting! This Hearthstone key has been a great way to learn the basic about lost wax and I can’t wait to try more stuff with this techniques πŸ™‚ The wax filament is awesome and it will allow me to make stuff I would have never be able to do with sand molds!

  1. One more thing that will help get consistent successful pours is a double gate. It allows air to escape and ensures that the liquid metal gets into every nook and cranny. I usually pour to a gate that starts at the top like you did and the second gate coming from the bottom ensures metal gets all through the mold. Doing this way I have had easily 85% perfect pours with no defects.

  2. Fantastic work, Mate. I appreciate the modesty you show by keeping unsuccessful attempts in the finished edit. I'm also excited to see what other projects you can use this technique for. Enjoy your weekend.

  3. Very Nice Black Beard . I know your pain ! right now i'm making a Bo staff as a friends christmas present i'm going ot make it two parts with a breakdown metric screw in the middle and black iron pipe ferrules with a twisting copper wire inlay made out of an old Black locust stave i had in the Shed that was too Short for a Bow .
