Aboriginal actress Madeleine Madden stars in an epic fantasy series dubbed the ‘next Game of Thrones’










She’s the Aussie actress of Indigenous descent who is well on her way to Hollywood stardom.

And Madeleine Madden can be seen in the brand-new epic fantasy series The Wheel of Time, which has been dubbed the ‘next Game of Thrones‘.

The 24-year-old spoke about the highly anticipated Amazon Original series with entertainment reporter Brooke Boney on the Today show on Wednesday.

‘I think The Wheel of Time [book series] is just this epic fantasy series that was well before it’s time, you know, when the books were first published,’ Madden said.

‘It’s quite groundbreaking and changing social norms and structures,’ she continued.

Madden went on to describe that aspect of the show as ‘very different and unique’ in the fantasy genre because it has ‘strong women at the forefront of this world’.

Madeleine and New Zealand actress Zoë Robins, who also appears in the series, both said they had read the books in the lead-up to filming.

‘There’s been moments we’ve had to stop because we would get to moments when we were filming we were like, “Hang on on a second, this is not exactly what happened [in the books],”‘ Robins recalled as Madden nodded in agreement. 

The Wheel of Time also features British actress Rosamund Pike in the lead role, as well as American actor Daniel Henney. 

Game of Thrones alum Michael McElhatton, who portrayed Roose Bolton in the HBO fantasy series, also stars on the show.

The Wheel of Time is based on a series of novels written by fantasy author Robert Jordan 

There were 14 books in the series published from 1990 to 2013.

The final three books were completed by fellow fantasy and science fiction author Brandon Sanderson after Jordan died in 2007.
