I’ve loved The 100 Season 7 so far. I know some people are really disappointed that Bellamy wasn’t featured more, but I’m OK with it because I know Bob Morley asked to have some time off while they were filming. They worked around all of that quite well, and it looks like things are about to get really interesting. The mythology is woven together well, and I’m loving Indra’s expanded role. But one thing I was not prepared for was the major “Arya from Game of Thrones” flashback that Madi’s scene gave me during Season 7 Episode 10. And I’m not the only one who noticed. A lot of fans picked up on the strong similarities between the two characters.
This article will have major spoilers for the final season of Game of Thrones, so don’t read on unless you’re OK being spoiled for a big plot twist or you already saw the final season. This article also has major spoilers for Season 7 Episode 10 of The 100, called “A Little Sacrifice.”
Was it just me, or did Madi’s scene remind anyone else of Arya? #The100 #GameofThrones
There was a really intense scene in Episode 10 where Indra was fighting Sheidheda and it looked like the Dark Commander might actually kill her. On this show, I know to never feel like any character is completely safe, so I wasn’t sure if Indra was going to survive or not. Sheidheda was just about to spear Indra and bring an end to her life when Madi came screaming into the scene, jumping off from somewhere in the background, leaping out with a knife, and stabbing Sheidheda.
I was glad to see Warrior Madi back. I was wondering what happened to her and if her warrior side had just disappeared when The Flame was removed from her.
But I was not prepared for those Arya flashbacks from Game of Thrones — especially a scene that seemed to match Arya’s big Game of Thrones scene SO closely. Not to mention, that scene with Arya was kind of cringe and one that Game of Thrones fans are still upset about all this time later. So it was a kind of strange scene to choose to mimic.
Both scenes involved the Warrior Teen going against the Mega Strong Bad Guy who has a long, dark history of defeating the good guys. Both involved taking out this Dark Prince right when he was about to kill an important character. Both involved the Warrior Teen coming out of nowhere, jumping from a high location, and leaping onto the Mega Strong Bad Guy with a knife. The only difference is that Arya got the final blow, while Madi was stopped short of it. I wonder if they paid homage to Game of Thrones on purpose?
I’m not the only one who noticed it. Here are some tweets about the scene.
It’s almost like Madi watched Game of Thrones and decided to try it out herself.
I love this side-by-side.
I mean, it’s SO close it can’t be a coincidence.
I’m not complaining. I enjoyed seeing The 100 pay homage to Game of Thrones like that. I just wish it had all worked out a little better for Madi, don’t you?
