Mads Mikkelsen has an appetite for major franchises, and is all set to join yet another one in the upcoming Indiana Jones sequel.
Mads Mikkelsen has an appetite for iconic movie franchises. He’s played Hannibal the Cannibal in Hannibal, done James Bond, and will play the dark wizard Grindelwald in the next Fantastic Beasts movie.
Now, he’s taking his talents to one of the Indiana Jones franchise, according to Deadline. Details on who Mikkelsen will be playing have not yet been revealed, but it’s safe to assume he’s going to be some villainous, charming character. He’ll doubtless make a worthy adversary for Indiana Jones, again played by Harrison Ford.
This casting announcement comes not long after we heard that Fleabag star Phoebe Waller-Bridge is joining the movie as the female lead. I’m not sure about all of you, but this sounds like it’s gearing up to be the best Indiana Jones movie we’ve had to date. Just imagine a two-hour movie with Waller-Bridge and Harrison Ford running about an ancient temple as they try to evade the clutches of Mads Mikkelsen’s character. Indiana Jones 5 absolutely can’t come soon enough.
The movie will be helmed by Logan director James Mangold, who is stepping into the role occupied by original director Stephen Spielberg. It’s a lot to live up to, but if anyone can take on this mantle it’s Mangold.
While we wait for the Indiana Jones movie to drop in 2022, you can catch Mads Mikkelsen in the Oscar-nominated movie Another Round. And surprise, surprise, he does not play a villain in it!
