Maisie Williams couldn’t stop cringing as she was confronted with some behind-the-scenes footage from her very first season on Game of Thrones.
The actress was only 12-years-old when she stepped into the role of tomboy Arya Stark for the HBO fantasy series in 2009, but was forced to face her teenage self (along with her Stark siblings Kit Harington and Sophie Turner) as part of a reunion panel recorded for the new Blu-ray boxset.
Now, while everyone’s teenage years are pretty excruciating (we can barely look at pics of ourselves without dying from embarrassment), at least most people are lucky enough to go through their awkward phase away from cameras and millions of viewers.
But that isn’t the case for Maisie, who looked on in horror at a compilation of herself and Sophie Turner first onset in 2011.
‘I’ve never done anything like this before,’ baby Maisie said, looking adorably excited at the thought of being on a real-life TV set.
Everyone knows that the Stark sisters are the best of friends IRL (Maisie is thought to have been Sophie’s maid of honour), but the embarrassing videos show that the pair had been BFFs from day one.
‘Me and Maisie are best friends on set,’ a very young-looking Sophie explained, ‘we met in the auditions. I think we’re going to be friends for a long time.’
‘[That’s] so embarrassing,’ a red-faced Maisie said as she watched the clips back, asking presenter Conan O’Brien: ‘What are you doing to us? That was horrible.’
However, it was baby faced, freshly shaven Kit Harington as Jon Snow that seemed to shock the panel the most, with Maisie screaming in delight as the actor shouted ‘f*** off’ and covered his face as the audience laughed.
Safe to say you won’t be ending the 2010s with a 10 Year Challenge, eh Kit?
Game of Thrones: The Complete Series is released on Blu-ray on Monday 2 December.
