You can only make a montage of pushing and pulling an object in and out of something look so epic…
Love the music with it the video very fitting
You've come such a long way since the first sword, it's cool to see traditional swords made in a modern way
HAHAHAHA that restraint for not laughing "before the hardening" gold
Buy yourself some crimson guitars guitar neck calipers or some steel tong calipers to find thickness, the magnet trick is smart but measuring directly takes less math
need to get a longer forge and tempering oven
and thats why you should quench in oil
Hi Alex,
I was just watching you filing the tang of the Claymore. I think you might find it easier to get the shape and finish you're after if you move workpiece around in the vise so you're filing on a level horizontal surface. It means you have to re-position the work more often but I think you'll find it's much easier to control the file and get the exact profile you want.
I was taught metalwork by an old fashioned craftsman in the 1970's and it's something he always stressed. Make it easy to control the tool and you get a better result.
Hope this is useful to you.
Regards
Gordon
I must say Alec, your skill and patience is a joy to watch. Makes me want to get into smithing (when I can once again afford to). Keep making. I'll keep watching.
What is the song at 4:23?
why no spark bucket, also acts as cooling
Just curious why don't you use a magnet when you heat treat? Assures the proper temp…
The Normalizing cycle start @ 8:09 with the music and slow-mo video was highly appeasing visually and audibly. For some reason it made me think of the Last of the Mohicans theme song… holy you need that song for one of your slow-mo bits!!!! Great work otherwise!! Keep this stuff up!! Love watching craftsman craft crafty things!!
Give your old files a bath in caustic you might be surprised Alec.
What is the song at the end i need it for.. dramatic effect
