GAME Of Thrones actor Tobias Menzies is set to take on his biggest role yet, playing Prince Philip in The Crown series three.
As fans gear up for the show to return to Netflix on Sunday November 17, here’s everything you need to know about the British actor taking over from Matt Smith.
Who is Tobias Menzies?
Tobias Menzies, 44, was born March 7, 1974, and is an English stage, television and film actor.
He is best known for starring in Game Of Thrones.
While working in theatre, he starred in television shows such as Rome (2005–2007) where he played Brutus.
Tobias is also known for his dual role as Frank Randall and Jonathan “Black Jack” Randall in Outlander (2014–2018), for which he received a Golden Globe Award nomination.
On March 29, 2018 it was revealed Tobias will take over the role of Prince Philip from Matt Smith in the third and fourth season of Netflix series The Crown.
Who did Tobias play in Game Of Thrones?
Tobias played Edmure Tully in Game Of Thrones from 2013 to 2016.
His character is the son and heir of Lord Hoster Tully
Tobias told Digital Spy that he’s unsure whether he’ll be in season 8, he said: “The honest answer is, I have no idea.
“He’s obviously somewhere in a prison, he’s still around alive somewhere. They’re pretty stingy with their information and I’ve not heard anything from them.”
And we now know he did appear in one episode, The Iron Throne, in the eighth and final season.
When is The Crown season three available on Netflix?
We’ll see Tobias in The Crown when season three makes its debut on November 17, 2019.
However it has been rumoured that the Queen is said to have been “upset” and “annoyed” with a TV portrayal of Prince Philip as an uncaring father.
The first two seasons were released to critical acclaim and have already achieved two Golden Globes and a Bafta award.
