Former Game of Thrones star Richard Madden (Robb Stark) is currently riding high off a Golden Globe win for his lead role in the BBC’s Bodyguard, about a war veteran and security officer suffering from PTSD.

The show is officially a hit, but Madden may not be a part of it much longer. Why? Well, the Daily Mail caught up with a Bodyguard producer at the National Television Awards last week, and he was unexpectedly candid. ‘We don’t know if Richard will do series two,” the producer said. “It depends what happens with James Bond, we don’t know yet.” Say what?

We’ve heard rumblings about Madden being considered for the role of James Bond before, but it’s all been under the radar. In October of last year, Bond czar Barbara Broccoli reportedly wanted to meet with Madden to size him up for the part, but then the news stopped. Ready to fire the rumor mill back up?

Speaking to EsquireBodyguard director Jed Mercurio said he saw something like this coming from the start. “[Madden’s] the genuine article, a real leading man,” Mercurio said. “And I think this role has put him very much in the spotlight for bigger things. So the practicality may be that we have to work round his availability, if we are lucky enough to get him back.”

For now, until anything official is released, Madden is just happy to be in the conversation. “I’m more than flattered to be mentioned, for people to consider putting me in that role,” he said last November. “I’m very flattered and thankful. It’s a really brilliant thing to be in.”

I don’t want to curse anything by saying anything. I think that’s the curse of that. If you talk about it, you’ll curse it.

Okay, let’s not talk about it anymore, starting now.
