Bette Davis stars as a beautiful but vain society woman who, to pay her brother’s gambling debts, marries a financier she does not love–Mr.Skeffington. The marriage does not last, and the former Mrs. Skeffington flits from beau to beau casually leaving a trail of broken hearts. But when she contracts a near-fatal case of diphtheria, her beauty is destroyed by the terrible scars left by the disease. Now middle-aged,scarred and unable to win men’s hearts with her beauty, she finally finds love with the now-blind man she had wed years before–Mr.Skeffington.

A wonderful movie…"A woman is only beautiful if she is loved "
I had some tears in my eyes at the end I must admit. And I love Bette no matter what. Claude Rains was magnificent.
This is the most horrendous distortion of a truly wonderful novel. Bette's hair and makeup are hideous, and that high-pitched fake voice is a huge mistake. And yet, it remains entertaining every time l see it. Such is the power of a compelling actress even when she overacts to the high heavens.
This is an outstanding movie, very talented cast and excellent plot..
Yes, one of my faves, however they edited a few key moments in this you tube edition. too bad.
