**Major Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers below**

Game of Thrones star Nathalie Emmanuel has opened up about the HBO series coming to an end and her struggle to start other projects after playing Missandei.

Season eight has been repeatedly slammed by critics and fans but Missandei’s heroic death will forever stand out as one of the series’ most iconic scenes.

But now the actress, 30, has admitted the show coming to an end was like ‘going through a break up’.

‘When that ended, it was almost like going through a breakup,’ she told Entertainment Tonight.

‘When other shows had kind of come along… that needed a six-year option, I was like, “I’m not ready!” It’s like I’m still sleeping in my old boyfriend’s jumper at night.

‘I’m not ready for a new jumper. I’m not ready to date again! It was that sort of feeling.’

The English actress has been defending season eight from the backlash and has slammed the petition calling for the final run to be rewritten which was signed by nearly 1.7 million people.

‘You can’t ask for receipts on art. You just can’t. The art has been created for you, and you can either choose to like it or not,’ she told TV Line.

Earlier this week, Game of Thrones star Natalia Tena, who played wildling Osha admitted she didn’t like the finale.

‘The calibre of writing towards the end, and the plots, and everything that happened, and how they wrapped up, compared to any other season, any other bit, it just feels like it’s been written by different people,’ she said.

‘It doesn’t make sense. For me.’

Nathalie is now starring in the Four Weddings and a Funeral reboot as Maya.

Game of Thrones season 8 is streaming on NOW TV.
