Game of Thrones is over, and the cast members are all off doing their own things. Not surprisingly, a lot of them are trading in armor and horses for more modern trappings, with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) playing a high-powered Hollywood agent, Lena Headey (Cersei) a headstrong single mom, and Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) a socially awkward fish out of water. Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei) is joining them as the lead in a Hulu series based on the 1994 romantic comedy Four Weddings and a Funeral. Check out the trailer:

I never did see Four Weddings and a Funeral, but I did see a bunch of the romantic comedies with Hugh Grant that came out around that time — Notting Hills, Bridget Jones’ s Diary, etc — and this looks like it fits right in there. The girl and the guy don’t like each other at first, then then fall in love despite themselves…it’s a formula because it works, people.

Also, weird fun fact: Game of Thrones actor Rupert Vansittart (Bronze Yohn Royce) starred in the original movie. Things are coming back around.

Emmanuel seems at home in this modern milieu. I’m not involuntarily picturing her as Missandei. The American accent helps. How do we think she’s doing with that?

The new Four Weddings and a Funeral show will air on Hulu on July 31. The show was created by The Office star and The Mindy Project creator Mindy Kaling.

Next: Netflix is officially adapting Neil Gaiman’s Sandman as a series!
