As usual, the cast of Game of Thrones is about and about living their best lives. To start, Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei) featured heavily in the trailer for Army of Thieves, Zack Snyder’s follow-up to this year’s Army of the Dead. This Netflix movie is about mounting a bank heist during a zombie apocalypse, with Emmanuel’s character recruiting a safecracker to their most noble of causes:
Army of Thieves comes out on October 22.
Henry Cavill roasts Kristofer Hivju over The Witcher season 2
The trailer for Army of Thieves came out at Netflix’s TUDUM event, where the streamer showed off a ton of upcoming projects. That included new looks at The Witcher season 2, which stars Game of Thrones vet Kristofer Hivju (Tormund Giantsbane) as Nivellen, a man who has been rendered monstrous by a curse. Hivju is pretty psyched to share the screen with Henry Cavill, who plays lead character Geralt of Rivia:
Hilariously, Cavill roasted Hivju on his Instagram, saying he was “extraordinarily brave” or playing Nivellen “with zero make up or vision effects”:
Those are the words of two people who got along on set. Watch then when The Witcher season 2 drops on Netflix on December 17.
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau supports indigenous filmmakers from the Arctic
In more serious news, Variety reports that Game of Thrones alum Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), his wife and filmmaker Nukâka Coster-Waldau, and Icelandic filmmaker Baltasar Kormákur are joining forces to promote the Arctic Indigenous Film Fund, which supports the production of films and TV series from Indigenous filmmakers from the Arctic.
“We are thrilled and honored to give our support to the Arctic Indigenous Film Fund,” the trio said in a joint statement. “We all have deep personal and professional connections to the Arctic and we know the incredible talent that exists there. Indigenous voices must be heard and those of the circumpolar region have urgent, vital and powerful stories of the kind the world has not yet heard or seen. It is our hope that the Arctic Indigenous Film Fund succeeds in its goals to support Indigenous filmmakers which will fill a void in funding and financing for these artists.”
The fund has recently given grants to filmmakers like Kelvin Redvers (Ice Road), Pipaluk K. Jørgensen (This Road of Mine), Marja Bål Nango (I love my Guodoheaddji), and more. “We are so thrilled to be working with Nikolaj, Nukâka, and Baltasar to continue on our important path to support Indigenous stories and Indigenous filmmakers from the Arctic,” said International Sámi Film Institute managing director Anne Lajla Utsi. “There is so much more to come.”
