Honest question- how could they have used Ned's face without killing him? I feel like you're hard pressed to remain alive with your face removed. I want Ned to be alive, but I have a hard time actually believing Gurm would just spring that on us out of the blue almost a decade later.

Nah…the head on the stake was Stark. If it wasn't then the mask should have come off. Ned is dead and it is what it is. Too much time on his hands not to come back immediately if he was alive..An honorable man like Ned will never go into hiding that long.

IF the theory is true:
id rather go for: jaqen is still jaqen, syrio impersonating ned, due to cats statement about ned looking smaller and jaqen is not small either.
it makes sense, that ned fled to riverrun, as cat isnt allowed to move freely inside her old home(in the books).
which makes more sense, if shes being prevented from seeing ned, rather because she betrayed rob by releasing jamie.
theres no danger of her betraying them again in the same fashion.
thats why the tullys are so desperate holding the castle.
theyre protecting more than just a besieged building (as its only the building left, no important tullys to protect,cause either dead or hostages, the blackfish even gave his life for what, a building???)
the theory seems to be a very likely one, since the faceless men are very interested in balance and protecting innocents aswell, opposing slavery and unnecessary brutality, i think i read that somewhere in the books.
many might argue, that ned wouldnt be able to do nothing to protect his own family, but i guess he understands that hes part of something bigger and having to play his role.
maybe it will be revealed, when jamie arrives at riverrun to get an army, hes not dumb, he knows that he has to persuade every likely army he can get on his way to follow in order to protect westeros.

I had probably that very reaction she showed when I saw it… and then I skipped it. It was too forced and gross. Besides the lack of chemistry we know they are aunt and nephew and so logically and unless something is wrong with your morals then no one should be rooting for that kind of gross come together. Westeros teaches that targcest is the very reason for their downfall, for their madness… Maester Pycell said to Ros that he knew Aegon the King, and that he was a nice and good person that he was charismatic (much like Daenerys) but then the madness started taking over and he began to have visions of fire and blood. Perhaps a foreshadow of his daughter. Westeros has made this a reason against incest and which is why only cousin marriages are semi common, as they are less closely related in blood line to have major effects on future generations. If ned is alive all this time from then when he reappeares into the series there should be a brief explanation why he just let his son and wife being slaughtered at the red weeding and overall downfall of the stark family.

Well, his wife and his son(s) are dead. Arya executed her revenge much faster than anyone in the Stark's family.

I don't think so. For a faceless man to impersonate someone, he should kill him first and take his face.. it doesn't make sense if syrio forel killed ned stark, took his face, and pretend to be ned then get beheaded…
