While most of the cast have been busy filming scenes at the Dragonpit in Seville, Spain, it seems a few changes have been made to that massive King’s Landing set in Belfast. We’ve watched for months as HBO constructed its largest practical set ever, and even heard that HBO intended to leave the set standing after filming as a tourist attraction. By the time tourists are allowed to roll through the set though, new images reveal it might be considerably different.  SPOILERS follow below.

We’ve known for quite some time that a battle would occur at King’s Landing during season 8. Even if we hadn’t seen Dothraki and Unsullied show up on set, you only build such a massive set if you are going to have actors battle it out across it. Or if you want to blow it up. Which appears to be the route Game of Thrones just took.

Courtesy of Twitter user @a_red_priestess, we can see the those towers production spent months building have now been decimated.

Here we get a little closer, and the damage begins to come in focus. Do the towers look like they were hit with an explosion of some sort? There used to be platforms atop each tower.

It sure looks like an explosion in this shot. The splintered wooden beams imply the platforms and scaffolding that once stood atop these towers were wrenched off rather violently. Was it a dragon? Or the Night King?

Here’s a different angle, but the damage stays the same.

And finally, we have a shot of a wall of the Red Keep.

The Lannister banners are noticeable missing. Has someone evicted Cersei? Or were the banners just removed for a good dusting? Who or what caused all the damage to the towers? We have so many questions.
