The internet can be a weird and sometimes scary place, especially when it comes to reports of celebrity deaths…

Now Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, 49, best known as Kingslayer Jaime Lannister in Game of Thrones, has been forced to deny rumours of his own demise that had been posted to a Danish website.

The star took to Instagram to vent his spleen about the issue to his millions of followers — and he didn’t pull any punches.

‘Fake news, we hear about it all the time,’ he began. ‘Now, in Denmark, apparently there’s a story that’s been floating around various websites, and it looked like a news story, and the news was that I had died.’

In a foul-mouthed rant, Coster-Waldau blasted the insensitivity of the story — which was used to sell a product — and pointed out the damage it could have done to his family.

‘Click on the story and go buy some s**t. I’m fine, but what the f***? I mean, come on… Imagine if my daughters, my wife, my family had seen that headline?

The actor fumed: ‘I mean I get that you wanna sell your s**t, but that’s just… So, eh, to you who did this, I know you don’t care, but f*** you.’

I have been used in ads against my will before but this is insane – to make a fake news story about my death is beyond disgusting,’ he wrote.

‘And although it’s great that the various websites that carried the story have taken it down they still ran it because it was paid for,’ he continued.

‘Surely there must be some control into what you put up before you put it up. Anyway. I am fine. Have a great weekend.’
