After an emergency meeting of its 54 board members, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has “immediately expelled” Weinstein after a vote that was “well in excess of the required two-thirds majority.” (New York Times)

Netflix to spend an obscene amount of money on programming in 2018.
The streaming giant announced its plan to spend $8 billion on content next year. In 2017, it spent roughly $6 billion, far outspending competitors like HBO and Hulu. (New York Times)

Carrie Fisher continues to be an icon.
During a radio interview, actor and friend of Fisher Heather Ross told a story about how after being groped by an Oscar-winning producer, Fisher personally delivered a cow tongue to the man with a note that read, “If you ever touch my darling Heather or any other woman again, the next delivery will be something of yours in a much smaller box.” (Mashable)
