An old clip of Jason Momoa claiming that he loves his role on Game Of Thrones as it allows him to ‘rape beautiful women’ has resurfaced.

The clip comes after the opening of Hollywood’s flood gates as women begin to speak out against men such as Harvey Weinstein and Ben Affleck, who have used their positions of power to abuse and harass.

Momoa’s comments came at the 2011 Game Of Thrones panel at San Diego Comic Con: ‘As far as sci-fi and fantasy go as a genre there is so many things you can do… like rape beautiful women’.

The audience burst into laughter after the comment while several of his co-panelists including Lena Headey, who plays Cersei Lannister, held their heads in their hands.

And it has also left many Momoa fans with their heads in their hands and disappointed at his decision to joke about such a violent crime.

Metro.co.uk has contacted reps for Momoa for comment.

Actresses Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ashley Judd and Rose McGowan are among the high profile actresses who have accused Weinstein of harassment and abuse over the past few decades, and New York police have confirmed that they have reopened a 2004 case against Weinstein.

Ben Affleck, who will star with Momoa in the upcoming Justice League film, has also been forced to admit he ‘acted inappropriately’ and apologised to One Tree Hill actress Hilarie Burton after she spoke of a 2003 incident in which he groped her on live TV.

An audio recording made by a Filipina-Italian model named Ambra Battilana Gutierrez also features Weinstein pleading with her to enter a bathroom and watch him have a shower.

In the week since the reports were first made in a shocking New York Time expose, Weinstein has been fired from his company The Weinstein Company over the allegations and his wife Georgina Chapman has confirmed she has left him.

‘My heart breaks for all the women who have suffered tremendous pain because of these unforgivable actions. I have chosen to leave my husband. Caring for my young children is my first priority and I ask the media for privacy at this time,’ Chapman said in a statement.
