An original Game of Thrones script bought at a pub could sell for thousands as fans get the chance to own their own piece of TV history.

The series was loved by millions across the world and now there is a chance to grab a piece of memorabilia from the show – signed by several cast members after a fund-raising gesture by one of its stars.

In 2015, British actor Jerome Flynn, who plays Bronn, donated an autographed Game of Thrones script to a charity auction to raise money for the Global White Lion Protection Trust.

It fights to prevent the extinction of white lions in South Africa.

The script was snapped up for £1,170 by super-fan Angela Raybould, who lives near Stafford and went along to the event at The Star pub in Great Wyrley in her home county.

She said: “My sister, Louise Ford, told me the script was being auctioned off at her local pub and I decided that, whatever it cost, I had to have it.

“There were a few people bidding against me but they gradually dropped out and I was lucky enough to get it.”

However, Angela, who runs a security firm with husband Derek, thinks now is the right time to sell.

The script is set to go under the hammer at Hansons Auctioneers on Tuesday, January 21, with an estimate of it fetching £5,000 to £7,000.

Angela said: “I’m a huge Game of Thrones fan. I have all the episodes on DVD and my husband bought me season eight for Christmas.

“But because of its value it has to stay locked away in a safe. It’s time for someone else to enjoy it.”

After she bought the script, Angela was invited to London to meet Jerome, who signed it “To Angela, Thanks for your generosity, Big Love, Jerome Flynn”.

Other cast members have also autographed it.

The Game of Thrones typed movie script, entitled The Children, was written by David Benioff and D B Weiss in 2013 and is based on book A Song of Ice and Fire by George R R Martin.

Jim Spencer, the paper expert at Hansons, said: “For any Game of Thrones fan this is a wonderful thing to own.

“The provenance is excellent and if you admire Jerome Flynn too, it’s really got it all.

“Of course, you will need deep pockets to afford it, but the series has numerous wealthy and famous fans.

“I’ve read that Jennifer Lopez, Barack Obama and Madonna are among several stars who watch the show.”

Game of Thrones was first broadcast in 2011 on TV network HBO. The fantasy drama has been a worldwide hit.

According to HBO, 17.4 million people watched the season eight premiere.

The show has won numerous TV awards, but faced criticism from some fans for its final series and conclusion.

The script is due to be sold on January 21 at Hansons, Heage Lane, Etwall.

Anyone wanting to arrange a book or works-on-paper valuation can do so by emailing jspencer@hansonsauctioneers.co.uk.
