I've been a US navy wife for a long time…this whole episode, and this scene especially, just gutted me. I'm not just the wife of a sailor, but also a sister to one, and the daughter and granddaughter of Marines. Idk, I just felt so connected to this, I know what it is to worry for someone you love who is is peril on the sea, to quote the Navy hymn. I know what it is to earnestly pray for someone you love who is at the pointy end of the sword. Watching these burials at sea…ugh, can't stop bawling. The traditions of the navy, of all countries, are just special to me. It takes a unique soul to live your life for your country and on the water. Wow, didn't expect this.
