Outlander star Caitriona Balfe has revealed that the show won’t have the same problem as Game of Thrones.

While Game of Thrones is already in the past with its eighth and final season, author George RR Martin is still working on the last novel from the A Song of Fire and Ice series which the hit HBO show was originally adapted from.

Outlander is based on Diana Gabaldon’s novels of the same name, and the Claire Fraser actress has explained why Outlander can’t overtake the books the same way Thrones did.

“Well, it is very different because Game of Thrones, I believe, past the books quite early on,” Caitriona told Digital Spy and other media. “We’ve no chance to do that.

“Diana is about to release her ninth book. We’re only finishing season 5 so I don’t think we’re going to surpass Diana.”

Going ahead, the actress said that the plan is “more or less” to adapt every other season of Outlander based on each particular novel.

In other Outlander-related news, Jamie Fraser actor Sam Heughan recently addressed the long gap between the show’s fourth and fifth seasons, and revealed whether that would be the case after season 5.

Outlander season 5 has a February 16, 2020 premiere date on Starz in the US. The show streams on Amazon Prime in the UK.
