Outlander ‘s Graham McTavish couldn’t help but give fans a teaser about his next project, the highly anticipated Game of Thrones follow up series.

Graham is starring in the long-awaited follow-up to Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon and gave some insight when he and Sam Heughan appeared on BBC Radio 2 earlier this week.

While Sam teased the new series of the time-travelling drama, Graham gave an exciting updates about the highly anticipated HBO fantasy, saying that filming is almost done.

House of the Dragon season one will premiere next year and hopes to usher in an exciting new era for the popular fantasy franchise seeing Graham portray Ser Harrold Westerling, an ageing knight of the Kingsguard.

Chatting on Tuesday, he confirmed production for the first instalment has nearly come to an end.

“We’ve nearly finished filming, actually,” he was able to reveal.

“We’ve been filming since March, so it’s been all year, pretty much.”

Graham’s role in the series was only revealed when the Outlander star was spotted in costume on the set of the show in Cornwall.

His part in the series had remained a mystery until then, though most of the main cast were confirmed in December last year.

British actor Paddy Considine was the first to be announced in October and was later joined by Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke and Emma D’Arcy.

Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best and Sonoya Mizuno were added earlier this year, and Graham’s role was confirmed after he was spotted on set in May.

Keen to reveal more details about the role, Sam asked if Graham would be playing the show’s titular dragon.

“I assure you I am not the dragon, no,” he said.

He joked: “I know. I wanted to be the dragon, but the part was already taken.”

The Outlander star also confirmed his role as Ser Harrold will buck a particular trend he has been building throughout his career.

Asked if his character’s name began with a D, Graham admitted: “No, I was slightly annoyed.

“I actually made out that his middle name begins with a D. Any character I play, D has to be involved.”

As well as Dougal Mackenzie, some of Graham’s most popular roles include Dwalin in The Hobbit series, Dromos in Lucifer, and Dracula in Castlevania.

However, he’ll soon be back on screen as Ser Harrold, a powerful knight sworn as the protector of Emma D’arcy’s Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen.

An official release date has yet to be announced by HBO, but now filming is coming to an end, hopefully, Game of Thrones fans can get their first glimpse of the new series very soon.

Outlander season 6 premieres Sunday, March 6 2022 on Starz.
