Ozark is finally back on Netflix over a year since we deserted Marty and the Byrd family in what was, let’s face it, a straight up nightmare.
After finally coming agonisingly close to appeasing both the cartel and the Snell family, Marty’s glimmer of hope of returning to normality came crashing down when Darlene blew the head of the cartel’s head off, which really was very awkward for everyone involved.
In turn, we return to the swampy lands of Ozark with Marty and his long-suffering wife Mary using whatever sneaky AF means they can to convince the governors of Missouri to grant planning permission for a casino so they wash hundreds of millions of dollars-worth of drug money.
Unsurprisingly, there’s a lot of blood spilled along the way.
And, with shows like Game of Thrones – and now The Walking Dead and Suits- moving forward without their leading protagonist, there’s no reason why Ozark couldn’t follow their lead and kill off Marty Byrd, warns Cade Langmore star Trevor Long.
‘I have thought about that question myself,’ Long exclusively told Metro.co.uk. ‘At first, I thought, “No way could the show go on without Marty.” And most likely that is true.
‘However, I could see it happening in a final season, maybe in like, the second to last episode. Again, no one is safe on Ozark.’
Long also made us seething with jealously as he opened up on his friendship with rising star Julia Garner.
It’s hard to ignore the comparisons between Ozark and Breaking Bad, and if Marty is our Walter White, then Ruth is his Jesse Pinkman.
At 24-years-old, despite starring alongside three-time Oscar nominee Laura Linney and Golden Globe winner Jason Bateman, Julia is still undoubtedly the scene stealer of Ozark.
No more so that in season two, in which her conflicts with Long’s Cade are nothing short of a marvel, albeit a particularly unpleasant one, to watch.
‘Cade and Ruth are pretty rough with each other,’ he added. ‘I absolutely loved working with Julia, and adore her as person in real life. She and I grew to be quite good friends.
‘I mean, it doesn’t get any better working with someone like Julia, she lives for acting and it shows.
‘Her willingness and fearlessness to get in there and try anything is inspiring; and she’s so young – she actually could be my daughter!
‘To have that kind of talent and drive and generosity of spirit at that age is almost unheard of.’
‘I never felt alone up there in front of the camera,’ he finished. ‘Somehow, I absolutely felt like her father trying to win back her love. In short, we taught each other to fly and let the magic happen.’
Ozark seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream on Netflix now.
