Bella Ramsey is set to star in a new HBO series.
The English actress, who is best known for appearing as Lyanna Mormont on “Game of Thrones,” has signed on for a series adaptation of the 2013 action-adventure game, “The Last of Us.”
The 17-year-old will star opposite “The Mandalorian” actor Pedro Pascal. Pascal also appeared on “GOT” as Oberyn Martell, a member of House Martell, but the actors did not cross paths on the series.
Per Variety, the show will follow the plot of the game and will take place 20 years after modern civilizations’ downfall at the hands of a deadly pandemic.
Pascal is set to play a smuggler that’s paid to save 14-year-old Ellie, played by Ramsey, from a quarantine zone.
Ellie is an orphan that has never known anything but the ravaged planet, but she may be the key to saving the world from ultimate destruction.
“What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse the US and depend on each other for survival,” WarnerMedia’s press release noted.
Craig Mazin, the creator of HBO’s award-winning limited series “Chernobyl,” is behind the series.
He’s working alongside Neil Druckmann, the writer and producer at Naughty Dog, the company that developed the game.
Druckmann took to Twitter to share his excitement.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to have Bella join the TLoU family,” he wrote about Ramsey’s casting.
Previously, he said he was “stoked to have Pedro aboard our show.”
Russian director Kantemir Balagov is set to direct.
No premiere date has been announced.
