Certain actors seem destined to embody a particular character, capturing the essence of the role on screen. Ewan Mitchell is such an actor, perfectly cast as Aemond Targaryen in House of the Dragon. His portrayal exudes a unique, sinister energy that distinguishes him from his peers. However, there was a time when no one believed in his abilities as an actor.

Not many people believed Ewan Mitchell could become an actor

Belief in oneself is perhaps the strongest weapon one can wield in their fight to be successful. Mitchell did exactly that, and instead of relying on support from someone else, he leaned on his abilities. In an interview with Clarin, the actor said:

“If I could go back in time and talk to my 10-year-old self, I would say these words: “I believe in you.” Even when I was a kid and being an actor sounded like a dream, I thought I could do it. There were many around me who didn’t. But as long as you hold on to what you believe in, be yourself, and have something new to offer, you’re going to achieve what you set out to do.”

Ewan Mitchell had to convince his family when he decided to be an actor

Mitchell later revealed he didn’t even have his family’s support initially when he told them he wanted to be an actor. They were quite surprised. He recalled:

“No one in my family is in the film industry, I didn’t go to drama school, and I never had formal acting training. It took some work to convince them. When you’re a kid and you tell others that you want to be an actor, people laugh at you. That was also the case for me, especially at the school I went to. They think it’s a dream.”
