REQUIEM FOR THE AMERICAN DREAM is the definitive discourse with Noam Chomsky, widely regarded as the most important intellectual alive, on the defining characteristic of our time – the deliberate concentration of wealth and power in the hands of a select few. Through interviews filmed over four years, Chomsky unpacks the principles that have brought us to the crossroads of historically unprecedented inequality – tracing a half-century of policies designed to favor the most wealthy at the expense of the majority – while also looking back on his own life of activism and political participation. Profoundly personal and thought provoking, Chomsky provides penetrating insight into what may well be the lasting legacy of our time – the death of the middle class and swan song of functioning democracy. A potent reminder that power ultimately rests in the hands of the governed, REQUIEM is required viewing for all who maintain hope in a shared stake in the future.

Very enlightening. Time to make things happen.
One of the best movies. Hands down. Noam Chomsky explains so well, in his humble voice, the flaws of American Society.
Quite thought provoking, striking so many truths, should be watched with an open mind before this up and coming election. The question being , does our vote really count?
Pay the small fee, get the film and watch. There may be no more succinct and clear expression of the underpinnings of our contemporary challenges and crisis than this. Worth the price. Better still, it's available on Netflix if you are a subscriber.
cheaper on vudu or free if you subscribe to net flix
Really great documentary.. Glad I found it…. D'Souza with his nonsense is marketed and everyone has heard about his so-call documentaries …. But not many have heard about Noam Chomsky documentary.. Requiem of the American Dream is the truth spelled out… that the American people need to know..
*Note: The documentary is now on Netflix.
And yet the educated poor (balancing our budgets on a razor's edge, as we must) cannot afford to rent the motherfucking thing. Whereas the uneducated poor won't give a rat's ass, as they haven't got the critical thinking skills to know what or whom they're staring at. How gorgeously ironic!
Now, a very small number are "born poor, work hard, and " get fabulously wealthy, buy politicians, climb Everest, buy a tour to the Space Station, own homes all over the World, fly into Refugee Camps distributing gifts, worshiped like Gods. And that is the "New American Dream", an ideology of Triumph of the Will to the max! Not too likely it will happen to you, but, hey, there's always the Lottery. The problem is the 30 year-old somethings, full of energy and funding connections, coming out of business school who actually believe they have a right to this system and their deity, Ronald Reagan. The American Dream is alive in well…and twisted and bent.
To Chomsky, when government policy moves wealth from a group he despises towards a group he favors, it is democratization. However, when the same government action pushes wealth towards a group he despises, it is evil authoritarianism. Sad that even in his old age he never reconciled his intellectual flaws.
There was a time when Chomsky would have been encouraged to run for president. An intellectual, a thinker. Nowadays we have candidates like Donald and Ted. Fuck me.
