Reylo in The Last Jedi Explained | What Does Kylo Ren & Rey’s Connection Mean For Star Wars?

The Last Jedi is here! As I predicted, Reylo was a major thing in the film! Rey and Kylo Ren have a serious connection and that connection is very important to the Star Wars universe, especially as we move forward towards Episode IX! Let’s talk about it!

The Changing State of Media: Media Is going through the most massive shift in the past hundred years. Everything is going digital, direct to market, and mobile. The best and worst part of this is that there are no more gatekeepers. Anyone and everyone can put their content out there and reach a mass audience. However, the new gatekeeper is the algorithm. In order to get stuff in front of people, certain practices are done which hurt quality. In this world, where established networks are now fighting for views against thousands of YouTube personalities and bloggers, ALL of these people have forgotten the most important part of this equation. That is the value for the end consumer. That is something we will NEVER do. How will we figure out how to add value to our audience? It’s simple; we’ll ACTUALLY interact with them and we’ll actually CARE.

Our Vision: We want to become the ESPN of Nerdy things, but obviously with some changes. We imagine a place and time where we have high quality and personalized content put out every day that serves Nerds around the world. We want to be hyper interactive with our viewers on Social Media and in person. Simply put, we exist to expand the fun in YOUR life! Becoming a major player in reporting, programming, and covering Nerdy things is how we plan to do that!

  1. I didn’t actually expect for Rey and Kylo to have a force bond, but I’m so happy they do. How it was portrayed beat all my expectations. Their scenes together were my favorite parts besides Leia finally using her powers on screen. Edit: 2:25 Lol. Yup. That’s Adam being fantastic at portraying the struggle between Kylo ren and ben solo. They are the same people, yes, but with any psychologically abused person, he has separate personas. Kylo ren is snoke’s creation. Ben solo is the innocent boy who just wanted his parents to love him. Rey will bring Ben solo out. That’s who she’s falling for. It was Kylo ren who asked her to join him, which is why she couldn’t follow him.

  2. Why do you think Kylo/Ben is going to die? The reason Vader died is because he was on life support because it was the machines that he was hooked up to that were keeping him alive and they all shorted out when he threw the emperor over the rails. You are making it sound like GOT and the bittersweet ending GRRM has planned and GOT is not SW.

    He might die, but I don't think so. This is not to say that things will be easy for him, however, I do think people will have faith in Rey's judgement and will listen to her and trust her enough to be willing to give Ben a chance to prove himself. Why does he have to die? There are many ways one can redeem themselves and Vader was old and could not survive without the machines. Luke even told him that when he asked that they be removed.

  4. See I think they're going to redeem Ben/Kylo in episode 9 and together they're going to found the new Jedi order that allows relationships and personal attachments. Because if he's not redeemed Han essentially died for nothing. And they're not going to just kill him off because then they'd be killing off the Skywalker bloodline and that really WOULD piss fans off.

  5. I kind of hope this connection and these forcechats keeping going, but I think that Rey may have closed herself off for now. I'm worried one of them will die. I hope we at least get a kiss. I almost thought Rey was about to kiss him in the elevator. She got right in his face.

  6. I think they will fulfill the prophecy which was not fulfilled through and Anakin but he started the line of the Skywalkers which would then be allowed the prophecy to be filled. Then prophecy will allow for the balance of the force the dark and the light and from that compassion for all will come.

  9. "Light and Dark working together to vanquish a greater evil" – I freaking love that, I think it perfectly describes not only the throne room scene but represents a huge theme in the movies as well.

  15. That's nice but I really want to see physical interaction, not making babies through the Force. Rey is considered a heroin for the Resistance and Kylo is the leader of The First Order, if they get together in a true love relationship, it will be a bond strong enough to bring union between the Light and the Darkness. For me this is the same concept that ancients had, to make alliance through marriage, but this is even stronger because there's love involved.

  16. It would make sense that Rey is no one. When Anakin was conceived of the force, the plan (and the force’s plan if that makes sense) was most likely for him to be endgame. But he turned. And he fell.
    The force needed Rey, who very likely could be another force born child, to balance him out. The fact that she could a force born child would explain why she has so much power. (It could also explain why there is only one parent in the reflection Rey sees) Ben’s grandfather had those same beginnings. Kylo and Rey truly could be the start of a new race of Jedi, of balance, considering their one of their relatives is the force itself.
    The thing that I noticed the most from this, however, is the most character growth was in Kylo, not Rey. Yes, Rey learned the ways of the force. She also was able to accept her past and move on. But Kylo grew even more. He switches between Kylo and Ben throughout the whole film. And in the moment that mattered the most, which was the murder of snoke, he proved to be Ben. But right after, he was Kylo when he asked Rey to join him.
    My theory is that he cannot control when he switches to Ben and when he is Kylo. It is clear that there are alter egos. He could even be possessed by the dark side, even in some odd way by snoke. The very last glance they had, Rey was pissed but Kylo/Ben looked devastated. That was a Ben moment. He loves her. I hope that in Episode 9 Ben Solo will get some visits from his grandfather, Anakin, to teach him how to resist the dark side . If it is possible for Ben to kill Kylo, this will be one step towards balance.

    What needs to happened bring balance is a family. All the actors and directors say Star Wars is all about family. The one thing that has never happened tho, is a family happily living together. That can bring balance. It WILL bring balance. In many religions, the family is considered the building blocks of society. It would seem it is the same with the force. There has never been one family in the Star Wars story that has lived together.
    Family also brought out the dark side in Anakin. Seeing his mother die brought out the dark side in him. It triggered everything.
    I don’t know if it would ever be possible for there to be a big happy Jedi family. It doesn’t seem like it would be possible. But it’s the one thing that will bring balance.

    Even tho I personally want reylo to happen with everything in me, I don’t think we can ignore the fact rey and Kylo could be siblings. Snoke could have seen that they would have brought balance, and he could have easily sent her away and wiped the memories of everyone, if his powers were as great as they seemed. He easily could have brainwashed Kylo as well. The in-syncness of Rey and Kylo, especially their duel in the throne room, is spectacular. When they touched, it could have been almost a memory from the womb. I HATE THE IDEA OF HER AS A SKYWALKER. But if they can live in peace as brother and sister, they will be a happy family and restore balance.

    But there is still no denying the red thread. Rian could have been messing with us completely, and he could have been easily hinting to Leia and Han and the fact that their marriage brought the magnificent children who bring balance.

    I JUST DONT KNOW MAN

    They could seriously do so much with episode 9, I’m super interested to see what happens.

  18. I am hoping they end up teaming up against Abeloth, the Mother of Mortis, an evil so powerful that the Legends Jedi and Sith joined forces to kill her. Abeloth also tried to make a Jedi and Sith who had fallen in love replacements for the original Son and Daughter.

  22. I really hope they're endgame, I adore them together, I adore their relationship. I couldn't bear with him sacrificing himself as a redemption act to save Rey or the Resistance or something, I hope he joins the light when he realizes Rey believes in him, maybe after Leia dies or because of her death. It's also possible he helps the light win but then they go separate ways (so that there will be room for them in the next trilogy too…I'm sure it wll be realized in about 15 years). I think that the apparently lame line by Rose "we don't fight to destroy what we hate, we fight to save what we love" might be foreshadowing of important Reylo stuff in episode IX.

  23. REYLO needs to happen especially if it's true that 9 will be will the "last" in the Skywalker story… the idea of a final balance between these two complex characters. Kylo/Ben and Rey remind me of a reverse anidala

  25. I already thought about this possibility. They conceive a child but he does not know. And I can see Ben's redemption at the very end like Vader.
    Rey will explain the possibility of the balance of being in a kind of "gray" mode where light and darkness coexist. (I noticed that In episode VII, Rey wears mostly white. In the VIII, she wears gray. She begins with a mixture of light and darkness.)
    It would say something like: 'The end of the Skywalker curse'.
    She would answer that it may be the end of the Skywalker but not the Solo.
    With three possibilities. One, he truly dies, she forgives him, tells him to find peace and remakes the Jedi order alone.
    Two he lives. She will tell everyone that Kylo Ren is dead. And at the end, she will find Ben somewhere on a green planet or on Luke's planet perhaps.
    Calmly, start the foundation of a new Jedi order based on balance.
    Three, we don't know. The last scene would be their child asking to Rey : 'Mom ? Where is my dad ?' 'I'm here.'
    And The End. We don't know if it's a ghost or if he's alive.
    Just a thought…

  26. I think they will join together and destroy the corrupt war profiteers. While doing that he saves her like in the force vision. King Ren with his Knights of Ren fighting with the resistance against what looks to be hired soldiers. After that they will rule the Galaxy as king and Queen and end all wars . I know it's hard to see but just because someone rules the Galaxy doesn't mean they are ruling with evil intentions. Queen Amidala was a good ruler for her people.

  42. My theory: rey saw kylo turn. Kylo saw rey joining him. Both claim to CLEARLY see their futures. Sooooo. I think Rey WILL join him and destroy the resistance. Then she turns on kylo when theyre about to destroy some big characters like finn. Kylo kills rey and is distraught over it and is then visited by anakins force ghost which then explains to him everything and where his path is headed. Kylo submits to the light and is then told to kind of “follow the force”. This leads him to korriban or the outer rim where nothing but pure dark energy is being manifested and he ends up being confronted by snokes dark essence that has manifested in a new body. The two fight while anakin and luke energize kylo with the force and he ends up besting his foe, but is gravely wounded and then dies with no one around to save his physical body. He then passes and thus the balance in the force. Then he and rey conceive a new physical child through the force. Boom hand me a writing contract Disney

  45. omggg….you are brilliant!!! Reylo baby through force sex would be so awesome and sexy….but thing is, at the end of the day, it is disney. They won't do something like that as much as us smut want it lmao. Kylo will die, but Ben Solo will be reborn. If Star wars was like GOT, death would have been probable, but this isn't GOT.
    I just love how she's the leader of the light and he of the dark but they are so into each other. It's so fascinating. They pull away and yet the attraction is so powerful.

  48. Rey hasn't give up on Ben. In the Throne Room after the Ligthsaber broke, Rey was able to flee because Kylo was unconsciou. If she had give up on hin turning to the ligth she could have easily take his Ligthsaber and killed him. But she didn't she actually only took Anakins Lightsaber with her and left Kylo his.

  49. I think at the end of episode 9 Kylo Ren and Rey will come together but instead one of them turning completely to the other side of the force they will become grey jedi or something like that and bring balance to the force
