If everything wasn’t of the greatest caliber, a show like Game of Thrones would not have reached such heights. The two areas where the play truly excelled were the costume and wig designs. Hence, its prequel House of the Dragon including some of the best TV costumes and wigs ever produced shouldn’t come as a surprise. And Emma D’Arcy, who plays Rhaenyra, absolutely loves them.
Emma D’Arcy loves their House of the Dragon wig
The reaction to the wigs on House of the Dragon has been quite mixed. However, the one D’Arcy wears for Rhaenyra has been loved unanimously. In a recent interview with the ES magazine, D’Arcy said: “I’m very lucky, I look very different in the show. The blonde wig is a piece of armour that protects me. I have a very normal, ordinary day-to-day life and it suits me.”
How Emma D’Arcy relates to Rhaenyra
Though D’Arcy is greatly different from Rhaenyra in personal life, they relate to the character on a deeper level. They explained, “Yeah, I think she has an acute perception of how power operates. On the one hand, that’s a great strength, but it’s also a handicap, because to perceive how power is, is to see how power is being denied.
This can be painful. She doesn’t get the bliss of ignorance. She perceives injustice as it happens to her and I think that’s like a really resonant facet of her character.”
