Richard Madden learned one valuable lesson from his time of Game of Thrones – don’t get on a plane covered in blood.

Turns out that the Bodyguard actor, who played Robb Stark on the long-running fantasy favourite, was just as emotional as us over the Red Wedding – especially seeing as he, you know, died in it.

When his time on the show was through, he struggled to contain himself on the flight home.

Speaking to GQ magazine, he revealed: ‘I sobbed and sobbed on that Friday. I was hysterical actually. I was so exhausted. I cried all the way home. The air stewardess kept asking if I was OK.’

However, in the rush to get to the airport, he forgot one vital thing – that he still had blood on him from his brutal death on the command of the Lannisters.

‘And then people moved and the rows behind me moved. I was sobbing and covered in blood. I looked like I’d murdered someone and got on that flight,’ he added.

Definitely not the best thing to spot on a plane.

The Red Wedding has gone down in history as one of the most brutal death scenes of all time, as almost an entire family was slain.

This included the graphic death of Robb, his pregnant wife (that one has scarred us forever), and his mother.

As you can imagine, if you haven’t already seen it, a lot of blood, a lot of gore and a lot of death.

However, Richard revealed that he got paid ‘fuck all’ for his time on Game of Thrones, because he wasn’t a big enough name to get a hefty pay packet.

Speaking to The Sunday Times in September, the actor said: ‘People think I am [loaded] because of Game Of Thrones, but you know, when I signed up for that I was 22, with fuck all on my CV, so I was paid fuck all.’

These days he’s being seen as Detective Budd in the BBC hit series Bodyguard – the most successful TV drama in decades which drew in more than 11million by the series end.

He’s also possibly the new James Bond, though he’s being really shady about it.

Game of Thrones returns in April next year on HBO/Sky Atlantic.
