After rocketing to fame as Edward Cullen in the Twilight movies, Robert Pattinson took a break from blockbusters to do smaller, more artistic films, perhaps to get people to look at him as something other than the sparkly romance vampire. It worked, and he’s returned to tentpole movies as none other than Bruce Wayne in The Batman. From here, he can basically write his own ticket.

Speaking to Variety, Pattinson said that he wanted to work with The Batman director Matt Reeves for a while before donning the cape and cowl; he was particularly impressed with Reeves’ Planet of the Apes movies. “I love those Apes movies so much,” Pattinson said, showing off his good taste. “There’s only been two movies — well, three now — where I wanted to do a sequel: the Apes movies, Sicario and Dune.”

The Apes movies seem to have come to an end, at least for now. But director Denis Villenueve is making a sequel to last year’s sci-fi hit Dune, continuing to adapt the book by Frank Herbert. And if Pattinson wanted to jump aboard that thing, I think a lot of fans would be pleased. We even know what role he’s be perfect for: Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, the villainous nephew of Vladimir Harkonnen who faces off with Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides at the climax of the story. Make it happen, Hollywood!

Original Dune star Kyle MacLachlan interested in appearing in Denis Villeneuve’s sequel

And Pattinson isn’t the only actor up for a role in the next Dune movie. Kyle MacLachlan, who played Paul Atreides back in David Lynch’s 1984 Dune movie, is down to appear if asked.

“I think it’s totally up to Denis and whatever he wants to do,” MacLachlan told ComicBook.com. “I watched his film, it was great, I enjoyed it. Had a tremendous sense of nostalgia, to be honest, watching some of the sequences and remembering stuff that I did with our cast in 1983. So it was a trip down memory lane for me, but I thoroughly enjoyed it, and who knows? Who knows what he’s got up his sleeve.”

Surely Villeneuve could squeeze MacLachlan in as a face-dancer or a dignitary of some sort? Make it happen, Hollywood!

Dune: Part II shoots this summer and is due out on October 20, 2023.
