While the world waits on A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin to release the next chapter of his worldwide bestselling series, one enterprising fan could wait no longer. Reddit user kittywhenham made a bot read all five of Martin’s current novels in the series, and then produce an ending based on what it learned. Behold the glorious results.
Where to even begin? From Jon’s moody comments, to Arya committing yet another murder, the robot clearly knows its subject matter. Jon complaining to his horse that he fears “thinking,” sounds like just the kind of brooding thing Jon would say to a horse. Likewise, Tyrion’s logical nature seems to have followed him even to the grave.
Other highlights include Dany finding herself in a bit of a pickle at the end of the series, after Jon seemingly abducts their children and rides to Dorne. Maybe that’s the bittersweet ending everyone keeps talking about? Elsewhere, some have proposed that Davos Seaworth is the Prince that Was Promised, and while the robot might not subscribe to that theory, it seems one of Ser Davos’ descendants is both the ruler of the Seven Kingdoms, as well as the Lord of Light. Not bad for a former smuggler.
Ultimately the robot captures the essence of the series, although in a nonsensical manner. Perhaps further reading of Martin’s other works, including the upcoming Fire and Blood, might improve that aspect, though its a minor quibble. It hardly matters that Dany is struck by two fish, as opposed to two swords. The violent nature of Westeros rings through in the robot’s metaphors, and we give it a 4 out of 5 stars. Your move Mr. Martin.
