She's Scottish, of course, but grew up in England or something. I remember, back in the day, when Ygritte first appeared on GoT. Everyone in the Westeros 'North' seemed to have been told to put on an accent similar to Sean Bean's, so there Rose was giving Ygritte a YorkshireLancashire/whatever accent. And all the folk unfamiliar with the British Isles must have looked her up on wikipedia, read she was Scottish and just assumed that her 'stroppy Manc' accent was Scottish. I remember having a very surreal exchange on youtube with some Scandinavian who was telling me that Ygritte's accent sounded pretty Scottish to him! I told him/her that I was Scottish and she didn't sound anything like, but they weren't having any of it!
