The year 2020 may have been a Red Wedding year, but the beginning of 2021 was no less turbulent. The world is struggling to get rid of the pandemic. The US presidential election had its own political drama. Trump supporters flanked all over Washington DC to oppose the newly elected leader, Joe Biden. The riots caused several deaths and loss of property. Rudy Giuliani, the lawyer for former US President Donald Trump, made a comment referencing Game of Thrones ahead of the riots. He recently attempted to explain his statements.

Rudy Giuliani calls Game of Thrones a ‘documentary about fictitious medieval England'

Giuliani addressed the crowd on January 6, before they marched on the Capitol Building, telling them “let’s have trial by combat”. The riots caused the deaths of 5 people.

He explained, “I was referencing the kind of trial that took place for Tyrion in that very famous documentary about fictitious medieval England. When Tyrion, who is a very small man, is accused of murder. He didn’t commit murder, he can’t defend himself, and he hires a champion to defend him.”

The former New York Mayor was unaware that the HBO series is based on the fictional works by George R.R. Martin. Giuliani then attempted to explain he meant a combat ‘between machines‘ and not people.

He added: “It incited no violent response from the crowd. None.”
