Game of Thrones is a show loved worldwide, but as we know of the human nature, nothing ever is free of controversy. Speaking of which, apparently, in Russia, Game of Thrones has a weird look. The show airs there on Amedia, and Russians love it as much as we do, but there are a few people there that have a problem with it, like everywhere else.

While the show is a total success, Russia has always shown hostility to the show. Back in 2015, legislator Vitaly Milonov called for a ban on the show. Here’s what he said :

“Every tenth character [in Game of Thrones] is a sexual deviant. Through such works and their popularizing, a new matrix is being inserted in our consciousness, according to which things like that are normal.”

We don’t even know if that logic is worth responding to. Another Russian official has also made a similar comment. Russian Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky, who actually handles censorship of the arts, explained why Game of Thrones could never be made in Russia :

“A Russian wouldn’t be able to make Game of Thrones, because we cannot unambiguously say whether the characters are good or bad. But we can do so, for instance, with regards to [legendary Russian 10th-11th century] Prince Vladimir.”

As far as Prince Vladmir goes, there have been debates over exactly how good or bad he was, but really there’s no arguing with political logic.
