It has been 10 years since Game of Thrones first aired on HBO. The show’s graphic scenery was simply breathtaking. Most of the locations where the series was filmed are in Northern Ireland. However, some of the iconic scenes were shot in Croatia. Since the prequel House of The Dragon is right around the corner, Croatia expects an influx of Game of Thrones tourism, and their newest attraction will shame even The Sea Snake.
Sail Croatia is launching a Game of Thrones-inspired cruise to mark the August release of House of the Dragon. Quite a lot of Game of Thrones scenes were filmed in Croatia, with some of its most iconic scenes shot across the country’s coastline. On the seven-day sailing trip, customers will visit several of the most famous filming locations, including the city of Dubrovnik, home of the fictional city King’s Landing. Here, guests can visit sites from the series, including the Red Keep, Blackwater Bay, and the Walk of Shame’s location, and sit on a replica of the Iron Throne.
Tourists can also explore Lokrum Island, which was the stand-in location for the city of Qarth, and Klis Fortress, the setting for the city of Meereen. Entrance and access to various Game of Thrones attractions will also be included, including the Game of Thrones Museum in Split and a Game of Thrones walking tour in Dubrovnik.
The cruise departs on August 20 from Split, with prices starting from £939pp. A dedicated tour manager will be on hand throughout to point out the highlights.
