We have seen the rise and fall of Winterfell in the seven years of Game of Thrones, and the Starks with it. The Stark that saw the most of the Turmoil was Sansa, and we finally saw her climbing back to the top and into her home, in Season 7. Now, as Season 8 gets closer, we’re excited to see what role she plays in this one. In a recent interview, Sophie Turner, who plays the role of Sansa Stark, spoke about how Sansa will be stepping up. The whole cast burst into tears after Game of Thrones Season 8 table read, says Sophie Turner

Sophie recently spoke to DigitalSpy about Game of Thrones Season 8. Speaking of Sansa’s role, she said:

“Finally, she has the strength of her family behind her.

She’s used Littlefinger for all he has. As she said, ‘Thank you for all your lessons’. He has nothing left to give her. So she is so empowered. She has a family behind her. She has Littlefinger, Cersei, Margaery, everyone’s wisdom and teachings all behind her.”

She continued:

“She’s a real, true leader of Winterfell now. And that’s where we first see her – as a very protective, empowered lady in charge. It’s the first time you ever see her like that, and it’s so amazing to see her like that – kind of owning her destiny.”

Maisie Williams gives her take on Season 7 possibility of Arya killing Sansa

She also discussed how the show has pushed her character, as well as herself over its course:

“I’ve been so, so lucky [because] it’s the biggest acting part I think I could have ever had. To be able to take her through the motions of being beaten down, and growing and eventually evolving – literally season by season, you see a huge change in her.”

She continued:

“Every single season has pushed and stretched me so much. Without Game of Thrones, I don’t think that I would be half the actress I am today. I’m not saying I’m particularly a good one, but I’d be even worse!”

Sophie Turner praises the end of Game of Thrones, calls it unpredictable

Hyping up what we could expect from Sansa in Season 8, she said:

“It is just such a drastically different Sansa that the one that I play today – I almost don’t recognise her. Every single season, she just – for me – gets better and better and better. She’s just a joy. She’s just a progressive joy.”

Well, let’s see what Sansa does next! We could not be more excited to see her rule Winterfell come Season 8. What about you guys? Talk to us in the comments, down below!
