Season 1 Episode 1 Analysis & Recap – Game of Thrones Season 1 Episode 1

I remember dismissing game of thrones until season 3..and i kept seeing trailers and decided bugger it ..watched episode 1 got 10 mins in and thought oh god another medieval based drivel, wheres the fantasy in that? Started watching first episode again about a month later determined to watch the whole thing. Thank goodness I did..awesome..and im loving these explanation vids too 🙂

Well, overall Buffy the Vampire Slayer is the best tv show of all time, imho. GOT has more intricate plots and wayyyy better production budget and is more ambitious. But… Buffy has way more heart and far more compelling characters.

First. English is not my mother language. So I hope this text is understandable and good to read.

I knew nothing (like Jon Snow 🙂 about the show, the story, the charakters, the books even that the story plays on another Planet with another cosmic rules.

I love screen junkies Honest Trailers and how they made fun of it. "Its like a history test, but with Dragons and Boobs :-)" So I became curious and began watching all six seasons in one big marathon.

The events were often really shocking and unexpected for me, cuz every episode I started totally unspoilered. Especially hard for me to see was that every good charakter in the show is going to die.
For example Ned Starks beheading, (especially) red wedding, Oberyns skull crushing, bastard babies got murdered by this piece of shit Joffrey, even Jaimies hand cutting. I was like wtf happens here. This cant be true.

Often I thought, why Im doing this to me. The makers are going to far. This story wants to be a fary tale but this world is to cruel for that. No justice at all. One asshole is bigger then the next one. Good loses everytime, assholes wins everytime.

But on the other hand. I really enjoy it when it comes later for some revenge. Highlights for me.
Aryas killing trip and how she enjoyed it to torture her enemies.
The sadistic fuck face Ramsey got finally beaten bloody to the ground and later fed by his dogs.
The blowup of the high sparrow. Fucking religion fanatics They were like a combination of scientology and inquisition.

Btw. my favorite charakters are Sam and Gilly. Cuz for me, they are the only persons in this sick world, who are not cruel or lost their selfes. I really hope they'll made it until the end.

But after all the evil things, I cant stop, I always wanted to see where it goes. So hear I am. Waiting impatiently for Season 7

I'm now 61 ; my baby daughter who was 25 at the time told me I had to watch this show and since I was at her house it was hard to at least be polite and watch a little of it. It was already past the first season I think. OMG i am hooked forever! Read the books so far and Duncan Egg and another story by martin. Looking forward to next season and already mourning the finale

damn. "i will probably never watch LOTR or Harry Potter", I'm not the biggest fan of them but that was a depressing line..

I watched this with the season 6 season finale intro musical sept of balor composition and with the music in the background it was pretty cool.

Great mind think alike because I recently started rewatching GOT. I noticed the final scene of 1.1 and 1.2 are very similar. 1.1 ended with Bran being thrown off the balcony and 1.2 end with him waking up after Lady was killed (warging?).

At the end of every rewatch video.. U should play the clips of the best dialogues of that paticular epsiode ..For eg.

The Ruler of Winterfell, I , like you, didn't start watching GOTs until well after it aired. I got totally hooked after the first 2. Episodes. I wonder if it has something to do with watching seasons BACK To BACK ??????

I am just like you, not fan of fantasy and I started watching GOT because I was curious why this show was so popular… Recently I rewatched and took notice a lot of things but you noticed a lot more! please make a vid of other episodes as well…

I loved that you did this video! I have watched the series again right after Season 6 and then soon after became a part of the GOT family. Great idea Ruler. I'm having serious withdrawals so I am reading the books again. I almost did the same thing Ruler I binge watched the first three seasons several years ago and I was freakin' HOOKED!!! I'm a history lover too and I knew GRRM used a little of the real War of the Roses York and Lancasters. I'm not really a fantasy freak either but I did like Lord of the Rings no Star Wars or any of that crap. I just loved sitting on my couch watching three seasons in a row!! And then Ned…… head off, Red Wedding and on and on and on!!!!it's so funny on the reaction videos when people's favorite character gets cut people just freak!!!!!!!

I read Game of Thrones in 1997. I caught the first two season on TV because I had HBO at the time but than canceled because HBO charged to much and I wasn't into the show. I watched season 6 on pirated internet. Why, because GRRM can't seem to get around to publishing the Winds of Winter. Weird trying to mach up changes in the show from where to novels are now out but it was a good season.

Breaking Bad was the first show I went back and watched in its entirety. I never really followed much TV before that honestly. I was a movie guy. Our introduction stories are fuckin identical. That's funny as shit. Season 5 of GoT was the first season I watched on TV. I had just watched 1-4 maybe a month prior and by chance season 5 aired. A friend gave me season 1 and I watched it in 2 days with the wife and then I downloaded the rest went even harder watching it all within a week. Lmfao Great video man.

Love the review btw, you definitely look at the older episodes differently once you've seen the other episodes. I've noticed that those characters that I took for granted the first time I watched the show, I appreciate them more when rewatching the episodes knowing they die afterwards.

I saw theories popping up about jon snow and then seeing how the red and purple weddings were sad. I saw them felt not much but then seeing more about the characters i felt sad after seeing them again. My favorite characters are jon snow i like tyrion but think george used him just because he is a dwarf still cool guy. Cersei because of the complexity of her character. Jaime for his development. I miss ned and rob. I wish they had more screen time but this is game of thrones
