  1. If anyone thought that Stannis' men approved of this and supported it, think again. Look at them. Look at their body language, bowed heads and expressions as they watched Shireen burn and heard her shrieks of agony.

  2. If Selyse did indeed hang herself and was not killed, THIS is why. She watched had a hand in the death of her own child and had to watch her burn like a side of beef and hear her tortured shrieks of agony.

  3. Shit political move by Stannis, he killed his daughter and only heir to the Baratheon dynasty, if Stannis dies, who will lead the Baratheon army by bloodright? His wife? Stannis is only making it worse for himself, he probably knows that though since he just saw his only child burn alive just so he could hope to be victorious.

  4. The screams will stick in my head for a long time to come. I honestly feel like this was the saddest death in the show and she isn't even one of my favorite characters. The writers did a fantastic job with this scene and Shireen's actress did a wonderful job as well. All the actors and actresses did actually.

  5. This is a horrible move by the show to do this right now because now people are questioning whether or not they should keep watching BUT then things might get even worse if they kill Jon Snow in the season finale, THATS when you start losing a shit ton of viewers, the snowball effect

  6. This was complete bullshit. I hope he finds out Melisandre was just full of shit, he murdered his child for no reason, and he dies with that decision on his heart. Not a good death either.. A Joffrey kind of death. Slow and PAINFUL.

  7. I'm ok with this death it makes sense storywise but I still question it:

Melisandre fucked Stannis and the shadow baby killed Renly fo sho…
the leeches off of Gendry "killed Joffrey and Robb" in Stannis' mind…

so why the fuck do they need to burn someone let alone his own daughter to appease the Lord of Light? Wouldn't Stannis question Melisandre's previous methods?

Also if they needed King's Blood for any sort of sacrifice, why did Stannis burn Mance Rayder the "King Beyond the Wall" instead of preserving him for an actual sacrifice? Let alone Jon Snow who they know has Ned's Stark blood (stfu book readers) in his veins?

The book readers know about Azor Ahai. He was mentioned about once or twice in the show. So really, show watchers should and reasonably can complain about this development in the plot. It was poorly set up and seems only for shock value for this season.

  8. Being burnt alive is just terrible. Have you ever had some minor burnt ? It painful yes ? Now Imagine all over your body. Feeling  your skins melt/cook  and your blood boil inside your vein.

It so painful and horrible that they often used green wood in mediaeval time so the victim would die from asphyxiation before the fire reached them. Now imagine the terror by an innocent children. Put at stake like this by people that are supposed to love and protect you. It's just fucking insane. I just can't get it out of my head. It's barbarism.

  9. I hope they all starve to death, and the one who decides whether they go to heaven or hell is Shireen. Fuck you Stannis you heartless bastard, you're king's blood too. Why don't you step onto that pyre? You don't deserve to be a king, I can't wait to watch you die. The Red Woman? I hope Arya gets to her first. She won't make it quick.

  10. He will never be king. When others hear of what he's done to make himself king…another book comes to mind…..a character within that book was nicknamed…"kinslayer", well that's what stannis has done..wouldnt surprise me if he gets called and labeled something akin to that. He'll never be King, He's doomed his own soul

also, parrallels between the white haired one, Daenarys or something and stannis..both willing to burn todeath anyone if it gets them what they want

  11. This ain't fantasy, Game of Thrones viewers. Welcome to the real world. The sacrificing of Shireen is right out of the Old Testament (and don't forget: Jesus categorically and unequivocally advocated total observance of the Old Testament).

If there are any self-identifying Christians out there who lament the idea of a child being burned at the stake in exchange for military victory — now would be a good time to wake up to your abject hypocrisy. In Judges 11 verses 29-40, Jephthah (Stannis) promised God (R'hllor) that if his campaign to slaughter the children of Ammon were successful, upon his peaceful return home he would burn "whatsoever cometh forth of the doors of my house to meet me"… which turned out to be his daughter and only child (Shireen).

Jephthah's nameless daughter was dancing and playing the tambourine when she ran to greet him, so Jephthah got sad as he broke the bad news to her. She was far more understanding of being burned at the stake than was our Shireen, as it turns out: "My father, if thou hast opened thy mouth unto the LORD, do to me according to that which hath proceeded out of thy mouth; forasmuch as the LORD hath taken vengeance for thee of thine enemies, even of the children of Ammon." So Pops gives her two months to roam the mountains bewailing her virginity, then burns her at the stake upon her return.

One could assume that R'HLLOR the Christian God was pleased with this offering, but keeping his promise was the least Jephthah could do, right? It's not like his genocide of the children of Ammon, which was apparently a smashing success (or, "a very great slaughter" in Christian parlance), was going down without God's help. So why the outpouring for Shireen from an audience steeped in a predominantly Christian culture… an audience that ought to know fully well the god-pleasing value of exchanging charcoal kids for wartime wins?
