Sophie Turner has placed the blame for the now iconic rogue coffee cup in Game Of Thrones season eight episode four on Emilia Clarke.
Eagle-eyed viewers discovered a showrunner had neglected to clear the set in the episode, and as Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia) stared daggers in the direction of Jon Snow (Kit Harington), a lone coffee cup was spotted chilling on the grimy Winterfell table in front of her.
At the time we all thought it was a Starbucks cup but the real coffee master has been unmasked as a local Belfast café near set.
Now however Sophie has denied all responsibility, despite also being in the scene, and pointing to a photograph of the scene with the cup in front of actress Emila Clarke, said: ‘Well… look who is right by the cup… obviously it was Emilia.’
‘She’s the culprit!’
The shade!
Sophie was appearing on The Jimmy Fallon Show and was also treated to a surprise message from new husband Joe Jonas, who called him her biggest fan as part of a series of fan questions.
The coffee cup left everyone up in arms and the showrunners tried to justify how the modern mechanic was left in the scene.
Responding to the gaffe, which has blown up on social media, Game of Thrones art director Hauke Richte told Variety it’s not uncommon for items to end up misplaced on set, go unnoticed and appear in the final cuts of movies and TV shows.
‘Things can get forgotten on set,’ he said.
‘[The coffee cup error has been] so blown out of proportion [because] it has not happened with Thrones so far.’
