Sophie Turner isn’t here for the backlash to Game Of Thrones’ ending (Picture: FilmMagic)

Everyone’s still fuming about the Game Of Thrones finale three months on from the ending, and frankly, Sophie Turner feels a ‘little defensive’ about all the backlash.

The 23-year-old, who played Sansa Stark for eight seasons, said that while the show’s fans are ‘incredible, so loyal and so passionate’, some of them don’t appreciate how much the cast put into the final season.

‘When people were saying that there was no effort, that the writers were terrible. The most effort was put into this final season,’ she told The Wrap.

‘We were shooting for an incredibly long time, nearly 11 months. We did the most night shoots anyone has done ever, I think.

‘I felt a little defensive, and I think I’m entitled to feel like that.’

Fans were divided – to put it lightly – when Bran Stark took his seat on the Iron Throne, while Arya Stark went off on her cruise, Jon Snow was banished to the Wall, and Daenerys was slaughtered by her nephew and lover.

But Sophie recently reasoned that Sansa didn’t want the most powerful position in Westeros anyway, because guess what, guys, it’s not all about power.

Discussing Sansa’s fture, she told the Los Angeles Times: ‘I don’t see her getting married or having children. I think it would be a democratic kind of kingdom. She’d die of old age, very happy.

‘The fact that she doesn’t want power is also something to be said for her. She only cares about the North.’

Fans are still pretty peeved about the HBO epic’s finale, and even created a Change.org petition to remake season eight.

Bran Stark himself, actor Isaac Hempstead-Wright was less than impressed with the campaign, telling The Hollywood Reoorter: ‘It’s just absurd. I can’t even fathom it. It’s just ridiculous.

‘It’s ridiculous that people think they can just demand a different ending because they don’t like it. I have stupidly taken it quite personally, which obviously I shouldn’t. In my opinion, it’s a great ending.’

Hey, backlash or not, the final season still received a whopping 32 Emmy nominations, including one for Gwendoline Christie, after she submitted her own name for her role as Brienne of Tarth.
