Game of Thrones fans who can’t wait for season 8 to hit our screens might want to wangle an invitation to Sophie Turner’s house for dinner, pronto.
The actress, who plays Sansa Stark in the show, has revealed she has the storyboard from her favourite scene in one of the final episodes on her wall. That scene also happens to be her last.
She told Rolling Stone that fans will not be disappointed by the hit series’ finale. ‘I feel very satisfied with the ending of the entire show,’ she said. ‘Every story arc came to a really good close.’
Sophie was interviewed alongside co-star Maisie Williams, who plays Arya, ahead of the cult show returning to our TVs next month.
She shared a little spoiler: the two women will be reunited on-screen again. ‘Sansa, this whole show, the only reason she has willed herself to survive is for her family. The power of family and unity is so strong that it can keep people alive. That’s the biggest thing I’ve taken away from the show: Family is everything. I think Papa Stark would be very proud of us.’
Maisie agreed that she’s happy with the ending, and thinks fans will be reminded of the very first episodes that aired on HBO. She said: ‘After I read Season Eight, I watched Season One — there’s a lot of similarities.’
The pair’s comments come after revelations that the Iron Throne might remain empty.
‘I don’t think that is going to be how it ends,’ Aidan Gillen, who played Petyr ‘Littlefinger’ Baelish, said recently.
‘I would like to think that at their finest moments, the creators of the show have managed to pull off things that are shocking and surprising and fantastic and heartbreaking, so I would like to think somewhere along those lines is where we are left. It might be too straight forward to think there is a winner to the game, it feels like the stakes on that front changed along the way.’
One thing’s for sure: we cannot wait.
