Sophie Turner has revealed that she reunited with her former Game Of Thrones co-stare Sean Bean – seven years after Bean’s Ned Stark was beheaded by King Joffrey in a shock twist.

The British actress confirmed the reunion took place for a behind-the-scenes featurette to celebrate the upcoming eighth and final season, although his reappearance made her ‘burst into tears’.

‘We did a behind-the-scenes thing on the final season,’ she said at New York Comic Con.

‘We had big panel where Sean Bean came back and everything. That was really emotional. I saw him and burst into tears. I wasn’t expecting that.’

Sansa and Arya Stark’s father Ned was killed off early in the HBO drama’s first season – the first of many surprise twists the show would give fans – when King Joffrey ordered Ser Ilyn Payne to behead Ned for treason.

At the end of the latest season, Sansa and Arya’s emotional scenes revealed that the sisters were still mourning the loss of their father.

The final season of the Emmy award-winning show will premiere over 18 months after fans were left on tenterhooks at the end of season seven as we will finally discover who will claim the Iron Throne.

If anyone at all.

Sophie, however, has previously predicted there will be a lot of disappointed fans out there when the fantasy epic comes to a close next year.

‘I think, you know, as an actor it was really satisfying – I think for everyone, everyone’s storylines – to be able to act out the way that it all ends. It was really satisfying for us,’ Turner told IGN.

‘Who knows if it will be satisfying for the fans. I think a lot of fans will be disappointed and a lot of fans will be over the moon, I think. I think it will be really interesting to see people’s reactions, but for me reading the script it was just like heartbreaking to read at the very final page of the script it just says, “End of Game of Thrones”.

‘That was really emotional.’

Game Of Thrones is set to return for its final season in 2019.
