A local star is set to hit the screen on season two of a hit Amazon Prime show.

Southport thespian Miranda Richardson is set to star alongside Game of Thrones star Kit Harrington in Modern Love, a popular anthology show which is due for its second season.

The show, which is based on a New York Times column, explores love in all its various forms.

Its debut season, which premiered in 2019, featured eight episodes all based on essays about love that were submitted to the New York Times column.

The essays were adapted by show-runner John Carney with each episode acting as a stand alone.

Season one boasted a stellar cast including Anne Hathaway, Dev Patel, Tina Fey, and Catherine Keener as-well-as pop sensation Ed Sheeran.

Less than a week after the first season premiered, Variety reported that Amazon had renewed the series for a second season.

But production resumed late last year. And, in February of 2021, Vulture reported that production for the next season had officially wrapped.

While there is no release date announced yet, we can hopefully expect to see the new episodes sometime this year.

Judging by the first season, Modern Love could beginning screening episodes in October 2021.
