the last scene with Stannis and Brienne definetely point slightly to him being spared by Brienne.

they needed him being wounded so Brienne can execute him without him being able to defend himself. They chose to use his leg to be wounded. Now they place a sword in 2-3 shots right behind Stannis to point on his leg. (foreshadowing?) Also they took a shot of Brienne kind of reacting surprised or considering right after Stannis said his epic line "go on do your duty". As a bonus they didn't show him dead. (because gratutious duh)

No doubt it seems damn unlikely he'll come back. But it would be ACTUALLY surprising! (Jon Snows revival wasn't surprising at all)

Doesn't Brienne tell someone she killed Stanis!!! She was at castle black and told the Onion Knight and the red woman how it happened. I remember she was standing tall and proud when she said it. I don't think she was bragging about it, just proud she kept her promise. HELLO, he burned his daughter ALIVE! I don't support the dragon queen either. Brienne said in an episode that she executed him can't remember who she was telling but it was somebody she didn't really like too much.. odd that they didn't show it though so who knows??

Stannis as an broken man in an small village , where jon goes through to muster men for WW- fighting.
Stannis then joins jon and serves under him and ser davos, which would be an nice twist

Game of Thrones is a show of forshadowing. Stannis said that the day he needs sellswords to fight for him "I will give up the crown and take the black" well he marched sellswords into battle… I have a feeling Brienne let Stannis live possibly cutting off his leg that was going to get gangrene. she then sent him to the wall to join the Nights Watch as Lord Commander. it's actually a perfect job for him and he will feel the need to atone for his faults. it's just a theory

Ah btw. they didnt shorten the upcoming seasons. They planned for it to be 7 seasons long. Meaning 70 episodes. Now we get 7 episodes for season 7 and 6 for season 8. Meaning we now have 73 episodes. Making it more than the whole lenght of a movie longer than initially planned.

Stannis is not the one true king. And Robert was not the one true king either. Because there is no such thing. So points against your theory: 1. Renley was Briennes first love making it unlikely that she would spare his murderer. 2. She does not call him the one true king, she calls renly the one true king. 3.How many executions have we seen in this series so far ? How many survived exection scenes in this book/series ? Exactly, none. 4. if you still believe Stannis will come back because brienne didnt kill him, you are dead wrong. HOWEVER, the only chance for Stannis to return is the lord of light saving him because of the blood sacrifice he made (his daughter). It worked for Daenerys when she stepped into the flames (the blood sacrifice was the maegi).
